3 Ways to introduce greater wellbeing into your life

What is wellbeing? Having good physical, mental, and emotional health could be one definition. The problem with this definition is that it makes it sound like you can’t be well if you have a long-term or even short-term illness. A better definition might be making the most of your situation, no matter what it is, to feel happy or satisfied. The health and wellness hacks below can help you feel better no matter what is going on in your life.

1. Mindset

Having the right mind is a big part of being healthy. When it seems like everything else in your life is out of your hands, which may happen more often than you’d like, you can still control how you feel about it. One way to do this is to realize that panicking, getting angry, or being upset about what’s going on doesn’t help at all. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t feel those things, but you shouldn’t think about them too much either. Set a time limit on how long you’re going to let yourself feel bad, and then move on. Try to look at things in a more positive or, at the very least, less negative way.

If you’re having trouble at work, you might say to yourself, “I always have these kinds of problems. Why do things always go wrong with me? Maybe I’ll lose my job.” You could change your mind and think more like this: “I can solve these problems. Sometimes it seems too much, but everyone has problems from time to time. My boss has to go through a certain process to fire me, and they aren’t going to do that just because I did something small wrong today.”

2. Striving

Setting tough goals and working toward them can make a big difference in how you feel about yourself. You might want to follow a certain career path, like becoming a nurse. You’ll need an education first, so you might want to start by learning about the schools near you and how to apply. You can also start looking into whether scholarships or student loans are available to you. A loan can help you pay your bills, and once you get a job, you can pay it back. Setting smaller goals can help you get closer to a bigger goal. You can celebrate each promotion you get along the way if you want to work your way up to a high position in your company.

3. Building Relationships

Few people in history have done well living alone. Most people, even those who are very shy, need to talk to at least a few other people from time to time. These relationships could be mostly with family or mostly with friends, but they should be with at least two or three different people. You shouldn’t put all your emotional support in one person. Getting out of the house and doing things like joining a hobby group or volunteering can also help people get to know each other. Even if they aren’t as deep as your most important relationships, they can still help you feel better.
